February 2014 Newsletter
Happy Valentine’s Day!
"If we cannot end now our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity." John F. Kennedy
February and September are the months when we celebrate Diversity. In February we bring out our Best Black Art and in September our best Latino Pictures. If your company wants to honor Diversity, it can introduce an art-centered celebration by inviting Picture Lady to your company to help you celebrate.
In recent years Diversity has changed. It is no longer focused on minority rights. In this tight world where each country is now talking to the others via the Internet, it is hard to stay individuated, hard for traditions not to get washed away, for groups not to get assimilated. This is a good thing. America has gained a respect for our commitment to solving the problems and the challenges of Diversity, there is still more to do economically, but it seems we are ahead of the rest of the world in this regard.
Africa has had a turbulent history. It is a country rich in mineral resources and there has been exploitation. However there has been economic and political stability in the last few years and South Africa is leading the way on the continent to a good economic recovery. Money is now flowing into the country, rather than money being extracted out.
Liberia is a small country on the West Coast of Africa that has always had a special bond with the USA. Many slaves came from there and when the slaves were finally freed in America that is to where many went; hence the name of the country, Liberia for Liberty.
Not too long ago the country suffered two horrific civil wars, displacing hundreds of thousands of people, and destroying the countryside and the economy. What is novel (showing the power of women) is that the soldiers finally reconciled. What had happened is that the Liberian Women got together and forced their men to lay down their guns. How did they do this? Collectively they denied them sex until they got with the program!
In Honor of All Women
I don’t know if the tradition in your family is to give gifts for Mother’s Day, or flowers or to take Mom out for dinner? In 2014 Mother’s Day is the second Sunday in May, this year 11th May. Do you have some good photos of her or the family on Facebook, pictures in old albums or on your phone? Bring or send them to us and see what we can do for you and your Mom. These Photo-to-Art pictures become conversation pieces, and you will find your friends talking about them, your sisters and brothers telling you they want one also. We can do this.
It may seem a little early to plan Mother’s Day but we are allowing you all the time in the world to select the pictures that are just right.
Note: We also enhance pictures and we do not charge for this work, so it is a great deal. Visit my Facebook Page and you will see how young I look! Befriend me there, and find how easy it is to communicate with me. I check my page daily and pick up and answer all messages. Suggest you also visit and like Picture Lady Home Products where you will find good information on Art, Health and Beauty.
A picture of your Mom (when she was young and glamorous) is a beautiful way to go for Mother’s Day. A photo collage is a second choice, for in a collage you can put all the best family pictures in one place and you can add a favorite scripture or family saying.
Original oil paintings are now priced so high that an affordable look-alike family portrait is a good way to go. This is our Photo-to-Art which is in fact better than Giclee, as canvas is fragile, and our technique is on board, and it lasts much longer.
