Cold and Flu!

Sick Dog

Got the chills?

Why is it that in a family of eight, with infection coming in, three family members stay healthy, one family member feels a bit queasy but takes natural remedies to chase away the cold and quickly succeeds? Why is it that another family member succumbs for but a day and then he, too, recovers completely? Why is it that the last three family members SUFFER FOR TWO WEEKS OR MORE?

Studies show that emotional stress is a factor. The happier you are the less likely you are to get sick. Here are four things that can be done to keep your mood light and upbeat.

  • Look over your life and find some things for which you are grateful. Gratitude is a very liberating emotion

  • Pick three people close to you and figure out something (however small) that you can do to make them happy. This will stop you feeling sorry for yourself.

  • Clean and bring order to your space. This will make you feel much, much better.

  • Go out and take a long walk. Find at least ten things that you like. Take your phone and take photographs. This will extrovert you and could make you happier.

There are also other factors: Studies show that the over 90% of Americans do not receive adequate daily amounts of vitamins, minerals and other critical nutrients. Not only do they not get the good stuff, but bad stuff, preservatives, and chemical additives, have been added to our foods to give them a longer shelf life.

We are bombarded daily by advertising for this or that vitamin or cure to where we begin to build up a wall of resistance. At the same time we sense that under the noise, there could be a fragment of truth. Sadly they didn’t teach us much about healthy living at school. In fact, there may well have been a deliberate false bias in the field of healing that was put there not to make us healthy, but rather to benefit vested interests. This shows up when goimg to the Internet to do any honest research.

The good news is that we are in an exciting age where East and West are able to talk to each other and there is health wisdom coming in from the East. We have been empowered (but maybe also confused) by all the information. However, it is possible in this day and age to try out and find just the right mix of vitamins for your own individual body, to find out what works for you. It is also possible to find effective herbal remedies that fight infection. It all begins with understanding.

Let’s start at the beginning:

A cell is a stand-alone living entity that are able to eat, grow and reproduce. Viruses are nothing like that. If you could look at a virus, you would see that a virus is a very, very tiny particle. Virus particles are about one-millionth of an inch (17 to 300 nanometers) long. And they are about a thousand times smaller than bacteria, and bacteria are much smaller than most human cells. Viruses are so small that they can’t even be seen with a light microscope, but must be observed with an electron microscope. Some look like round popcorn balls, while others have a complicated shape that looks more like a spider. However fascinating they may look under a microscope, they are predatory and they lie around just waiting for a host (somebody with unprotected cells) to come happening along into their vicinity.

The Cold and Flu virus loves to attack cells that line the respiratory or digestive tracts. They have perfected their invasion to enter through the nose, mouth or even through breaks in the skin. Once they are inside, they go about their nefarious task to find a host cell that they can infect. This poor targeted cell becomes compromised and that is where a chain reaction starts. The virus soon spreads to other cells. We call this an infection. This is when you begin to feel pretty bad.

The medical establishment will tell you that a cold or flu will last approximately two weeks. This is actually arbitrary. Some infections can last much longer and even be deadly. On the other hand when you know how to prevent them, cold and flu can be stopped in very short order.

So let’s study viruses and find out how they work: Unlike human cells or bacteria, viruses don't contain the enzymes needed to carry out the chemical reactions of life. One could say that their creator short-changed them. This is because viruses carry only one or two enzymes that decode their genetic instructions. An enzyme is a substance produced by a living organism that enables a biochemical reaction and is essential to life, even at the low level of existence where our enemy the virus lives. It needs us to survive and proliferate. We don’t need it. Once inside the cell, the virus takes over the enzymes of the host cell and begins to make copies of the viral genetic instructions. This is how they create new viral proteins, and they do it by stealing your genetic instructions and taking over your own cell's enzyme machinery It is a war, but it is a war that you can easily win.

Here is the sequence after the flu virus invades your body:

  1. The host cells break and new viruses spread into your bloodstream and lungs.

  2. Because you have lost some of the cells lining your sinuses, fluid can flow into your nasal passages and give you a runny nose.

  3. Viruses in the fluid that drips down your throat then also attack the cells lining your throat and this can give you a sore throat.

  4. Viruses in your bloodstream can attack muscle cells, causing muscle aches. When it reaches this stage you begin to feel that you are losing the war.

  5. This is when you muster all your defenses and it is time to call in the army. The army is your immune system and it fights the infection, and in the process of fighting it, your temperature rises. A fever actually helps you to fight the infection by slowing down the rate of viral reproduction, because most of your body's chemical reactions have an optimal temperature of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit (37 degrees Celsius). If your temperature rises the stolen enzyme reactions become null and void, and the stolen cell enzymes don’t work.

Ways to Protect Yourself During the Cold and Flu Season

  1. Control Temperature. Keep your body warm in winter – bundle up when you go out into the cold air. If your body temperature stays at a comfortable constant of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit (37 degrees Celsius) it becomes much harder for the viruses to invade. The medical community has convinced us that a temperature drop does not induce a cold but there is too much anecdotal evidence to the contrary. In establishing your own truth in the field of healing, follow the money trail. It will then become obvious that Big Pharma makes a killing from Cold and Flu shots. They would make no money encouraging people to bundle up.

If you get a slight temperature, your body is using heat to help it fight the infection. Your immune system works best when the temperature is raised. If your temperature goes above 100 degrees, however, it is wise to consult a doctor, for although this may still be a part of the healing process, it may also indicate something seriously wrong.

  2. Control Free Radicals. A free radical cell is a cell that is missing an electron. Such cells reach out to grab the extra electron from any plant, human, or animal atom in their vicinity. When they have stolen back an electron, they pass along the aberration in the form of a destructive chain reaction as they have compromised other cells. This is known as oxidation in the body and it is like an apple going dark after being cut. It happens also to your organs. If you want to stay healthy oxidation is a condition you have to address. Sadly, there is evidence that free radical damage is also caused by the toxic environment and by stress and that all are on the increase in the American culture.

How do free radicals relate to Cold and Flu? The problem is that a cell with a loose electron has been compromised as to its stability. It is much easier for a virus to latch on and to take over such a cell using it against the host.

    Free Radicals

Free radicals are formed in the normal processes of energy metabolism, but we now have an over-abundance of these. it has now been proven that the excess free radicals are also created by environmental pollution, cigarette smoke, and toxic chemicals. The body has several protective systems that scavenge free radicals. To help you fight cold and flu you can assist these. Supplements, especially vitamins C and E. and OPC Extra can help your body eliminate the damage from free radicals.

  3. Control Acidity. If you frequently suffer from cold and flu the reason could be that your body is overly acidic. Studies have found that diseased bodies are typically acidic. The body’s natural pH balance is slightly alkaline, and this should be maintained in order to feel our best and to protect the cells from foreign invaders. This is because an alkaline body is able to absorb up to 20 times more oxygen than an acidic body. Bodies need oxygen. Raising the pH in your body to an alkaline state raises your immune system’s ability to kill viruses and bacteria. Traditionally an alkaline body condition has been achieved by eating five portions of fruits and vegetables each and every day. This is the ideal, and on this point both traditional medicine and alternative medicine experts agree. Yet in our compromised economy how many rushing and/or struggling families are able to make this happen? It takes a super discipline to buy or grow and prepare the fruit and vegetables. What we buy in the supermarkets is not all that healthy. Unfortunately, even fruit has been compromised by toxic preservatives sprayed on them or on the trees to make fruit (and vegetables) last longer in the stores

If you find eating enough fruit and vegetables difficult, be sure to drink alkaline water to boost the general condition of your body At least that is easy to do.

There is a solution to acidosis that has been provided by advancing technology. For the last forty years in Japan there has been a machine that is able to make alkaline water and this product has recently been imported to America. Changing the water you drink is the quickest and the easiest way to keep your body alkaline. Do your best to Include fruits and vegetables, raw and in juices in your eating habits but also drink good water. You can see from the chart that much of the water that Americans drink is actually acidic and creates a predisposition to illness.

What if I Have Already Caught the Virus?

While everyone seems to have their favorite remedy for colds and flu, it is important to realize that each person is a composite and we all have a unique physical and electrical genetic blueprint. Remedies that work for you may not work for somebody else. Curing yourself is about bringing your body back into a healthy balance. It is the natural balance of your body that has been thrown amuk when you get sick. You will for sure have heard of mega doses of Vita C to cure a cold, but here is something you may not know and that is that for the Vita C to work, eating some natural whole grain carbohydrate with the vitamin C is essential.

A Few Natural Cold and Flu Remedies

Umcka ColdCare contains an extract of an African flower proven in many anecdotal cases to conquer viral infection. Umcka has shown clinical effectiveness for shortening the duration and severity of colds and flu. If your body has not responded to other adjuncts like zinc lozenges, echinacea or vitamin C, consider using Umcka ColdCare to knock out a troublesome cold.

Wellness Formula from Source Naturals is something to keep in your medicine cabinet or purse. You take this as soon as soon as you perceive a chemical imbalance in the body. In addition to Vita C (its main ingredient) it contains synergistic herbs that keep you healthy.

Managing all the vitamins and mineral supplements your body needs is not easy. Not only do the vitamins vary as to strength, but they sometimes do their job and are no longer needed and you go on taking them when they are no longer good for you. Muscle testing is good, but not always available. Here is a silly little test that works for me most of the time. Hold a vitamin in your hand and if there is a slight movement of your body towards the vitamin, it is still good for you. If our body moves away (it is a slight movement and you have to pay attention) it means the vitamin has already done its work and is no longer needed, or that it was never good for you in the first place.

Laminine is a new, state of the art supplement that will bring your body into proper balance and stability. As you test your vitamins when taking Laminine routinely, you will find yourself needing fewer supplements. It has another unique property in that it is a mood enhancer and can alleviate stress. You can expect no side effects from Laminine, that we normally associate with toxic drugs.

Cold and Flu is a fail-safe, fantastic remedy when the ugly little critters have gotten by all of your other defenses. It is an herbal remedy you can keep on hand for catching and handling the cold and flu. It tastes terrible but is very potent and it can be taken as often as wanted with no side effects at all. It WILL chase away your cold and flu.

In the final analysis we have to break our agreement that cold and flu are simply a part of the human condition, that we just have to suffer on. The truth is: YOU CAN TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE AND OF YOUR BODY, AND YOU CAN BE FREE OF VIRUS INFECTIONS. It all depends on correct action based on understanding. To reach your goals you will need to know how to stay healthy.

We wish you everything you dream of in 2014.
