Dear Friend:

Heroes

Now that the political wrangling over deficit reduction seems to be at an end, we hope to get back to  normal. Looking back, it is easy to criticize our elected representatives, but they are the ones who are shouldering the burden.

Here, take a look at these before and after political pictures and tell me what you see? These are men who stood up to be counted. Troubles seem common to all of them, Republican or Democrat.

I have a question for you: Could there be hidden bad influences they may all be battling?

American Presidents – Before and After

Franklin Roosevelt

Dwight Eisenhower

Jimmy Carter

Bill Clinton

George Bush

Barack Obama

Look how they all have aged while in office. I have to be honest, I couldn’t or wouldn’t want to do their job; fancy jet and fancy holiday retreat at Camp David notwithstanding. So I think it is important that while holding them to account with my vote, and with my attention, that I should still remember gratitude.

Gratitude is a very liberating emotion. I am grateful to our elected officials for standing up and being counted. They are heroes, after all, one and all.

Themed Events- A Picture Lady Specialty

Cerificate of Appreciation

I am not sure if it is broadly known that one of the things that we at Picture Lady do extremely well is “themed events’. Our three most popular events are Diversity, Black History and Latino Heritage. We have created special Diversity Web Pages, where you will find many fascinating and informative articles on the different cultures and the problems in other countries.

Hispanic Heritage begins on September 15th, the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries – Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Mexico declared independence on September 16th and Chile on September 18th. The term Hispanic was defined by the Census Bureau and refers to the 35 million Spanish speaking people who are living in America.

Hispanic Heroes

Possibly the best known Latino heroes are:

Film and Television: Anthony Quinn, Dolores Del Rio and Desi Arnaz.

Sports: baseball player, Roberto Clemente (He was inducted into the hall of fame).

Government: Alberto Gonzales (US Attorney General) and Sonia Sotemaya – US Supreme Court Justice.

Other Heroes

Superman

We have been invited in the second week of September to do a special themed event on “Heroes”. Above are some of the pictures we will have on display. Do you recognize them all?

Who are your heroes? I would love to know. Email me back with your favorites.

Until we talk again next month. . .

Warm Regards,

Lynn
